Connect settings

Each tab’s Connect asks only for its route’s settings, and the app saves them for the next start.

RouteGroupFieldRequiredWhat it’s for
MCP, localWork IQ CLICLI accountNoThe account the CLI signs in with; empty uses the CLI’s existing account. Sign in to CLI and Accept CLI EULA run the CLI’s own commands.
MCP, remoteSign-inDirectory (tenant) ID, Application (client) IDNoYour own registration. Leave both empty to use the published Work IQ MCP client, with the callback port 12798.
A2AYour app registrationDirectory (tenant) ID, Application (client) IDYesThe public client that A2A and REST share: Mobile and desktop platform, the redirect http://localhost, delegated WorkIQAgent.Ask with admin consent, and no client secret.
A2AAgentAgent IDNoThe complete, opaque ID of the agent to ask, for example one that list_agents returns in the MCP tab. Empty uses Microsoft 365 Copilot.
REST APIYour app registrationDirectory (tenant) ID, Application (client) IDYesThe same registration as for A2A.

Both MCP routes also need the harness model.

Deep Agents runs in the app and calls your model. The model must support tool calling, and it receives the Work IQ tool results, which contain your Microsoft 365 data.

FieldWhat to enter
EndpointAn Azure OpenAI or Foundry resource or project URL, such as https://my-resource.openai.azure.com; the app adds /openai/v1. For other providers, the base URL, such as https://api.openai.com/v1, or http://localhost:11434/v1 for a local server.
ModelThe model’s name; on Azure, the deployment name.
APIResponses API, which streams reasoning summaries, or Chat Completions API, which most providers offer.
AuthenticationMicrosoft Entra ID, on Azure endpoints only, through DefaultAzureCredential: it uses your existing Azure sign-in, such as az login. Your account needs a data-plane role on the resource, Cognitive Services OpenAI User for Azure OpenAI or Cognitive Services User for Foundry models. Or API key, for any endpoint.
API keyKept in memory and never saved. For a local server that needs no key, enter any value.
ReasoningOff, Low, Medium or High. It adds latency, and not every model accepts it.

Test model makes one short call with a test tool, with no Work IQ data, and lists each check.

When you run the app from source, a .env file in the repository’s root pre-fills the Connect dialogs; the downloads don’t read one. Copy .env.example to .env and fill in what you need. Settings you save in the app take precedence.

VariableFills
WORKIQ_TENANT_ID, WORKIQ_CLIENT_IDA2A and REST: your app registration
WORKIQ_MCP_TENANT_ID, WORKIQ_MCP_CLIENT_IDRemote MCP: your own registration; empty uses the published client
WORKIQ_LLM_ENDPOINTModel: Endpoint
WORKIQ_LLM_DEPLOYMENTModel: Model
WORKIQ_LLM_APIModel: API, responses (the default) or chat
WORKIQ_LLM_REASONINGModel: Reasoning, low, medium or high; empty uses the model’s default
WORKIQ_LLM_API_KEYModel: API key, which then selects API-key authentication
  • Your settings, without the API key, in settings.json in the app’s user data folder: ~/Library/Application Support/workiq-showcase on macOS, %APPDATA%\workiq-showcase on Windows and ~/.config/workiq-showcase on Linux.
  • The API key, in memory only until you quit. When you leave the field empty, the app reuses it only for the same endpoint host.
  • Your sign-ins for remote MCP, A2A and REST, in memory until you quit or sign out.
  • The Work IQ CLI’s sign-in, in the CLI’s own token cache.
  • Flow’s requests and responses, in memory only, with credentials redacted.
